'A Material Experience', 2015

A material experience has come from an investigation of how material can relate to and react with the  firing process. The kiln provides a liminal space where results of the egyptian faience glaze interacting with the porcelain forms are ambiguous and unpredictable.

With this collection I aim to provide a new perspective on what glaze materials can achieve rather than simply being a decorative aspect, glaze has the potential to become as much part of the form as the porcelain clay itself. The work shown here is a snapshot of the transition that has occurred in the kiln, a threshold of experimentation which is suspended in time.
